Without knowing your child, that is an impossible question to answer. The classes at Big Ben are:

Junior A/B, Senior A, B, C, D and E then Lower (B2). Whether your child will do all of these levels depends on a number of things.

Your child can start at any age by listening to and watching children’s programmes in English. English is also taught in the Greek state education system. The best time to start at a language school is in the third year when the child has learned the basics of their native language and is mature enough to start learning another in a more formal way. This will also ensure that when the time comes to take formal examinations, they are mature enough to deal with the complexity of the topics more easily.

Depending on the level there will be work for between forty-five minutes to an hour and a half per lesson. We do however, ask that our students revise their vocabulary on a regular basis.

The short answer is both but with material based on British English. We have teachers from Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Greece so the children are taught in a range of accents.  The importance is placed on clarity rather than accent. As far as vocabulary is concerned, there are some words which are different in American English so these are highlighted as and when they occur.

If there is an unexpected absence, we will contact you by email with the classwork and homework that has been missed. When we know of an absence beforehand, there will be other classes available so your child doesn’t miss their lesson.

We also have homework club on a Friday from 17:30-19:30 so your child can attend to catch up.

We do ask however, that appointments (doctors, dentists etc) are avoided during lesson times if possible.

Appointments can be made by phone 28210-92150 or 6973693178 10am to 12pm or during the hours when the secretary is here Monday 7.30-9.30, Wednesday 3.30-7.30 and Thursday 7.30-9.30. We ask that you avoid stopping teachers during the normal working day or that you interrupt or delay a lesson to talk to them.

Three times a year, you will be invited to a parents’ meeting to discuss the term’s assessment. This is a private meeting without other parents and without the child being present.

It is vital that parents and teachers have good relationships so we do our very best to be accessible.

Usually, we would have noticed this and invited your child to join the Friday homework club 17:30-19:30. This is designed to give any extra tuition necessary, either on a temporary basis or on a regular basis.

Don’t worry and don’t rush. Children who have been waiting for longer than the usual amount of time are asked to sit inside to wait where a teacher can see them.
